Katie is a lifelong Midwesterner and Chicagoan. She was born and raised just outside Chicago, attended college at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and currently resides in Oak Park, Illinois. When Katie was a toddler, she named her blanket ‘Harry’ after Harold Washington, Chicago’s first African-American Mayor. Katie McElligott is a first-time author and a full-time Creative Director at a Chicago advertising agency.

Kathleen enjoys bringing kids and quality literature together. She's a Reading Specialist and an Educational Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction. Her love of learning has led her to graduate from four different universities.
